Using Picture in Picture with Your ATEM Switcher
Picture in picture with the DVE
Picture in picture overlays one source on top of another so both are visible at once — a presenter over a wide shot, a guest over a graphic, a camera over gameplay. On an ATEM it's built with the DVE inside an upstream keyer.
What the video covers
- Selecting DVE in upstream key 1 from the palettes menu
- Previewing the effect off-air before going live
- Choosing which source appears in the box, and repositioning it with the X and Y sliders
- Resizing, and cropping edges using the mask controls
- Adding a border — colour, inner and outer width, softness and opacity
- Setting keyframes A and B, then moving between them at a chosen rate
- Going live with the on-air button, an auto transition, or the hardware button on an ATEM Mini or SDI
The keyframe controls are the part most people miss — they turn a static box into a move that looks deliberate. Browse the ATEM switcher range.
